Hannah Morris

I have a varied background with roles in marketing, publishing, design, administration as well as in support work and youth work. Along the way, I have also built two business ventures and self-published an illustrated book.

With a degree in English with Creative Writing and strong proofreading skills, I have a keen attention to detail, while also being skilled at seeing the bigger picture and being strategic. I can always see ways to move forward and innovate, pushing for higher quality and getting to the full potential of the product/project.

I share my reflections and experiences on nature, foraging, cooking outdoors and adventures over on Instagram.

The Outdoors Project – Digital Marketing Assistant and After School Club Assistant
February 2020 – present
I am one of the helpers at a weekly forest-style after school club in the woods. I am also supporting the founder with improving their social media strategy, expanding their visibility across Bristol and advising on updates to the website through the lens of good UX and a smoother customer journey.

Wild Folk – Business Owner
December 2018 – present
I host events in Bristol and surrounding areas to encourage people to connect with nature and learn about foraging and cooking outdoors. Have a look round this website to find out more. I am keen to expand this work into also working with vulnerable young people and families through community groups.

Enamelware Events – Business owner
September 2017 – present
I hire out enamelware crockery for weddings and events.

The Matthew of BristolOffice and Marketing Manager
July 2018 – Present
I manage the office for a historical ship which is loved by locals, schools as well as travelling tourists. This role includes overseeing the finances via Quickbooks, paying in cheques and sending out invoices to our customers. I manage our social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, creating and organising the content for each. I am developing a strategy for our YouTube account. I took The Matthew through a brand update and have started commissioning out a new website. I send out regular Mailchimp emails, make updates to the website and manage ticket sales. I deliver customer service to our customers by phone and email – members of the public, as well as film crews and teachers. I manage the lean marketing budget. I line-manage a colleague who assists me with these tasks.

Somerset Garden Day – Project and Marketing Assistant
April 2018 – August 2018
I worked as a freelancer on Somerset Garden Day, supporting the team with social media campaigns and logistics for various events. I created briefs for multiple site owners for four events happening simultaneously and bought necessary resources. I commissioned photographers and communicated with different people involved. I created basic designs for posters. (Somerset Garden Day is a Candide Gardening project. I was recruited by OggaDoon.)

Likeness Press – Project Manager and Self-publisher
January 2015 – December 2018
I self-published a book called Paint Pots and Coffee Cups, an illustrated guide to Oxford’s café and art scene. I commissioned 35 artists to illustrate a cafe and then produced, designed and marketed the book, including selling the shops. This included an initial successful Kickstarter campaign to generate funds for the print costs.

Family Links – Resources Officer
September 2012 – July 2015
Family Links is a national charity dedicated to creating an emotionally healthy, resilient and responsible society. I project-managed the print production of new books and merchandise, working with in-house writers and external designers, illustrators, proofreaders and indexers, and liaising with suppliers. I commissioned and briefed people that came into our team, creating and managing overlapping production schedules and keeping the team updated. I also managed the stock levels of existing resources and arranged for reprints and collated amendments and redesigns. I did a lot of the edits, designing and proofreading. I made sure we had high quality resources at the best value. I prepared all files for print and negotiated the costs in line with the project budget. I created our design style guide and ensured consistent use of it both internally and externally.
